37 Weeks Today!

Well today is a significant milestone--Shannon is now considered "term"! Yay! Any time she wants to come now is just fine with me! We've had 4 false labors so far--we only were at the birth center the first time though, as the labor came on during a routine weekly non-stress test. We live 2 minutes away from the hospital/birth center, so we can afford to wait till we really think "this is it"! :)

I just can't wait to meet our little girl! I wonder how big she actually will be, and whom she will look most like...will she have Dave's long and narrow feet, or my wider feet? Will she have a Beauchamp or Foucachon nose? Eyes?? Mouth??

I really did think last night was "it"! The contractions were getting pretty painful--I had to just concentrate on relaxing and letting the pain go and breathing calmly; (plus they were a couple minutes apart)...it's hard to gauge pain you've never felt before...but still, I think I will "know" when it's the real thing!

Shannon's nursery is all set! And I got a little pink baby bunting for half price at Macy's yesterday so she won't get cold coming home. It's been COLD here lately! 21 degrees was a high!

I also finally went and bought a Boppy nursing pillow. I splurged and got the "luxe pink" slipcover for a few dollars more--it's a soft velour stretchy fabric. I can already tell it's going to be a life saver with nursing!

35 1/2 Weeks!

BIG BABY!!

Well, it seems Shannon is one big baby! Her head and legs are measuring 2 weeks ahead, but her abdomen is measuring 4 weeks ahead!! The ultrasound tech said they can be a pound off either way, but that this machine was pretty accurate, plus she got really clear measurements of everything. So it seems I'm measuring even further along than I thought!

Happy New Year to everyone!!

I am now at the safe mark--35 weeks! My doctor wants me to keep taking the Terbutaline (muscle relaxant to keep contractions down) till 36 weeks...and then...just wait and see what happens! :)

I'm actually about to go to my 3rd ultrasound appointment...

Gettin' There!

Hello All!
Well, I am DEFINITELY feeling very pregnant now! This pic was taken about a month ago...So by now I'm feeling even more so. :) Shannon is kicking and moving SO much...sometimes it even hurts! I have most of the nursery ready. We painted the walls Pottery Barn's "Grecian Green" color, with a wide warm pink band at the top of the wall, which will be finished off with a scallop stencil.

The sleigh crib is rubbed ebony-colored wood, as is the dresser--we just used the tall, narrow dresser that goes with our bedroom set, since it won't fit into our bedroom with both our bed and big mirrored dresser. I inherited a changing table from my sister-in-law Kristin, who inherited it from Bekah Merkle. It is nice and big, and with a couple extra screws will be sturdy as can be. I spray-painted it a semi-flat black, and it looks great with the other furniture! Thank you Kristin! :)

I opted for the cheapest type of rocking bassinet (other than a moses basket or the plastic kind with music, etc..) I found it on WalMart.com and got free shipping to our local store. It is so-so...definitely cheap...:) You usually do get what you pay for! :) I think maybe for the next one around I'll watch Ebay early on to find a Pottery Barn bassinet that is shippable, and not just "local pickup only"...I often found "just the right crib" or "just the right bassinet" in my price range only to find they wouldn't ship! Argh! :) We are thinking of carpeting Shannon's room since it's the chilliest room in the house. It will be a shame to cover up the beautiful job Dave did with the fir flooring, but better warm than pretty for baby's room! I found a stuffed chair rocker on Craigslist for $15, and it is nice and small and comfy. I was so excited, as I had basically given up on finding a plush rocker (I don't like "gliders"--they make me dizzy) before baby came.

We found the perfect Christmas tree, and have it all decorated--it is a teeny bit sparsely decorated, but not bad for our first Christmas! :) I found us two fun and pretty stockings at Old Navy for half price. I get so excited when I find something nice for a bargain--it makes life a lot more adventurous! :) Well I will quit now. Blessings to you all this wonderful season of Advent!

It's a Girl!!

Yay, yay, and hooray! We are having a little girl! The ultrasound technician was positive, too. She got at least 3 clear views. We are so excited!
I have a name I love, but we're still not totally decided yet. I haven't posted in a while, but I'm all past the sickies, and over half way to D-Day! :D

I feel a whole lot of kicking these days! It's such an amazing sensation, and strange and wonderful thought to think that there is a very much alive and kicking baby inside me! There really is so much more of a connection when you feel that.

The "Un-Fun" Part Of Pregnancy Hits...

I'm 6 weeks...and I feel pretty awful. Haven't thrown up, though, which is a relief. Hardly any food sounds appealing, and when I do eat, I get disgusted with that particular food! I get bad stomachaches too. Ah well! It is all very worth it in the end. We can't wait to find out if we're having a boy or girl! I will be delighted with either--I'm thrilled to be having a baby, period! It would be special to have a girl, as it would be the first on both sides of the family (unless my sister-in-law Kristin ends up having a girl...she's a month ahead of me). But it would also be special for Dave to have a son. So, like I said, either one will have us just as pleased as pie! :)

I have tried ginger, "Preggie Pops", salt and vinegar chips, lime or lemon popsicles...A pretty good one is ginger beer. It's strong, but it will help your stomach. Today though, nothing has helped. I think maybe I am just "sick" sick.
